Readings for today, August 31, 2016.
For first reading taken from the book of 1 Corithians 3:1-9 says
Brothers and sisters, I could not talk to you as spiritual people, but as fleshly people, as infants in Christ.
I fed you milk, not solid food, because you were unable to take it. Indeed, you are still not able, even now,
for you are still of the flesh. While there is jealousy and rivalry among you, are you not of the flesh, and behaving in an ordinary human way?
Whenever someone says, "I belong to Paul," and another, "I belong to Apollos," are you not merely human?
What is Apollos, after all, and what is Paul? Ministers through whom you became believers, just as the Lord assigned each one.
I planted, Apollos watered, but God caused the growth.
Therefore, neither the one who plants nor the one who waters is anything, but only God, who causes the growth.
The one who plants and the one who waters are equal, and each will receive wages in proportion to his labor.
For we are God's co-workers; you are God's field, God's building.
Responsorial Psalm
From Psalm 33:12-13, 14-15, 20-21
Let our Response be "Blessed the people the Lord has chosen to be his own."
Blessed the nation whose God is the LORD,
the people he has chosen for his own inheritance.
From heaven the LORD looks down;
he sees all mankind.
Response: Blessed the people the Lord has chosen to be his own.
From his fixed throne he beholds
all who dwell on the earth,
He who fashioned the heart of each,
he who knows all their works.
R. Blessed the people the Lord has chosen to be his own.
Our soul waits for the LORD,
who is our help and our shield,
For in him our hearts rejoice;
in his holy name we trust.
Response: Blessed the people the Lord has chosen to be his own.
Allelulia song: Allelulia wikain Mo.
Our Holy Gospel Reading is taken from the book: Luke 4:38-44
Leaving the synagogue, Jesus went to the house of Simon. His mother-in-law was suffering from high fever and they asked him to do something for her. Bending over her, he rebuked the fever, and it left her. Immediately she got up and waited on them.
At sunset, people suffering from many kinds of sickness were brought to Jesus. Laying his hands on each one, he healed them. Demons were driven out, howling as they departed from their victims, "You are the Son of God!" He rebuked them and would not allow them to speak, for they knew he was the Messiah.
Jesus left at daybreak and looked for a solitary place. People went out in search of him and, finding him, they tried to dissuade him from leaving.
But he said, "I have to go to other towns to announce the good news of the kingdom of God. That is what I was sent to do." So Jesus continued to preach in the synagogues of the Jewish country.

August 30, 2016 readings: twenty second of ordinary time
Please read for today's reading, twenty second of ordinary time
For first reading taken from the book of 1 Corithians 2:10b-16 says " Brothers and sisters: The Spirit scrutinizes everything, even the depths of God.
Among human beings, who knows what pertains to a person except the spirit of the person that is within? Similarly, no one knows what pertains to God except the Spirit of God.
We have not received the spirit of the world but the Spirit that is from God, so that we may understand the things freely given us by God.
And we speak about them not with words taught by human wisdom, but with words taught by the Spirit, describing spiritual realities in spiritual terms.
Now the natural person does not accept what pertains to the Spirit of God, for to him it is foolishness, and he cannot understand it, because it is judged spiritually.
The spiritual person, however, can judge everything but is not subject to judgment by anyone.
For "who has known the mind of the Lord, so as to counsel him?" But we have the mind of Christ.
Our Responsorial Psalm taken from Psalm 145:8-9, 10-11, 12-13ab, 13cd-14
Let our response be : "The Lord is just in all his ways".
The Lord is gracious and merciful,
slow to anger and of great kindness.
The Lord is good to all
and compassionate toward all his works.
Response.
Let all your works give you thanks, O Lord,
and let your faithful ones bless you.
Let them discourse of the glory of your Kingdom
and speak of your might.
Response
Making known to men your might
and the glorious splendor of your Kingdom.
Your Kingdom is a Kingdom for all ages,
and your dominion endures through all generations.
Response.
The Lord is faithful in all his words
and holy in all his works.
The Lord lifts up all who are falling
and raises up all who are bowed down.
Response.
Our Holy Gospel for today is taken from the book of Luke 4:31-37 says
Jesus went down to Capernaum, a town of Galilee.
He taught them on the sabbath,
and they were astonished at his teaching
because he spoke with authority.
In the synagogue there was a man with the spirit of an unclean demon,
and he cried out in a loud voice,
“What have you to do with us, Jesus of Nazareth?
Have you come to destroy us?
I know who you are–the Holy One of God!”
Jesus rebuked him and said, “Be quiet! Come out of him!”
Then the demon threw the man down in front of them
and came out of him without doing him any harm.
They were all amazed and said to one another,
“What is there about his word?
For with authority and power he commands the unclean spirits,
and they come out.” And news of him spread everywhere in the surrounding region.

August 29, 2016 readings: MARTYRDOM of Saint JOHN the Baptist, Memorial
Please read for today's readings, August 29, 2016, which refer to MARTYRDOM of Saint JOHN the Baptist, Memorial
For first reading taken from the book of Jeremiah chapter 1 verses 17 to 19
Our Holy Gospel for today is taken from the book of Mark 6: 17-29
Herod was the one who had John arrested and bound in prison on account of Herodias, the wife of his brother Philip, whom he had married.
John had said to Herod, "It is not lawful for you to have your brother's wife."
Herodias harbored a grudge against him and wanted to kill him but was unable to do so.
Herod feared John, knowing him to be a righteous and holy man, and kept him in custody. When he heard him speak he was very much perplexed, yet he liked to listen to him.
She had an opportunity one day when Herod, on his birthday, gave a banquet for his courtiers, his military officers, and the leading men of Galilee.
Herodias's own daughter came in and performed a dance that delighted Herod and his guests. The king said to the girl, "Ask of me whatever you wish and I will grant it to you."
He even swore (many things) to her, "I will grant you whatever you ask of me, even to half of my kingdom."
She went out and said to her mother, "What shall I ask for?" She replied, "The head of John the Baptist."
The girl hurried back to the king's presence and made her request, "I want you to give me at once on a platter the head of John the Baptist."
The king was deeply distressed, but because of his oaths and the guests he did not wish to break his word to her.
So he promptly dispatched an executioner with orders to bring back his head. He went off and beheaded him in the prison.
He brought in the head on a platter and gave it to the girl. The girl in turn gave it to her mother.When his disciples heard about it, they came and took his body and laid it in a tomb.

For first reading taken from the book of Jeremiah chapter 1 verses 17 to 19
The word of the LORD came to me thus:
Gird your loins;
stand up and tell them
all that I command you.
Be not crushed on their account,
as though I would leave you crushed before them;
For it is I this day
who have made you a fortified city,
A pillar of iron, a wall of brass,
against the whole land:
Against Judah’s kings and princes,
against its priests and people.
They will fight against you, but not prevail over you,
for I am with you to deliver you, says the LORD.
Gird your loins;
stand up and tell them
all that I command you.
Be not crushed on their account,
as though I would leave you crushed before them;

For our Psalm for today " Psalm 71(70):1-2.3-4a.5-6ab.15ab.17".
Let our response be: I will sing your salvation.
In you, O LORD, I take refuge;
let me never be put to shame.
In your justice rescue me, and deliver me;
incline your ear to me, and save me.
Response:
Be my rock of refuge,
a stronghold to give me safety,
for you are my rock and my fortress.
O my God, rescue me from the hand of the wicked.
Response:
For you are my hope, O LORD;
my trust, O God, from my youth.
On you I depend from birth;
from my mother’s womb you are my strength.
Response:
My mouth shall declare your justice,
day by day your salvation.
O God, you have taught me from my youth,
and till the present I proclaim your wondrous deeds.

CLSS TOPIC: SALVATION
Our Lady of Lourdes Parish Community conducting again the Catholic Life in the Spirit Seminar( CLSS) held at Multi-purpose Hall beside Fr. Crispin Lay formation Center, Poblacion Polomolok, a province of South Cotabato.
One of the Topic here is "Salvation".
Speaker: Windel Tolitol
Objectives:
Salvation in christianity "Salvation" is the act of saving someone from sin or evil.
In John 3:16 it says that " For God so Love the world that He gave his only begotten Son that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life".
This one of God's great plan for us to save from sin. He will deliver his Son to the world not to be serve but nor to serve us all people He Love.
We to entail these 5 words below into our mind and follow
The first we have to HEAR and Listen.
Romans 10:17 "So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God."
What do you need to hear? Jesus is the Son of God who came to earth and died for our sins. Then rose and lives at the right hand of God. John 3:16, For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life."
Mark 16:15 "And He [Jesus] said to them, 'Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature.'"
The second one that we should BELIEVE.
Acts 10:43 "Of Him allthe prophets bear witness that through His name everyone who believes in Him receives forgiveness of sins."
What do they need to believe? Jesus is the Son of God who came to earth and died for our sins. Then rose and lives at the right hand of God. (see John 3:16-17)
You may read also: Mark 16:16; John 8:24; and Romans 10:9.
The third we should REPENT.
Luke 13:3 "... unless you repent you will all likewise perish."
Repent means "sorrow for sin that leads to a change". It also means "turning away from something (sin) and towards something else (God)."
You may read also: Matthew 3:2; Mark 1:15; 6:12; Acts 3:9; 17:30
The fourth we should CONFESS.
Romans 10:9 "if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved."
We must believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of the living God, and accept Him as our personal Savior!
To whom do we confess this belief in Jesus? EVERYONE!
The fifth BAPTIZED.
Acts 2:38 "... be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins;"
The Greek word "baptizo" (baptism) actually means "immersion". Baptism can only be done by completely immersing a person in water.
You may read also: Acts 22:16; Gal. 3:27; Col. 2:12; Romans 6:4; and I Peter 3:21.
And remember this in Matthew 28:19-20 "Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in nthe name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost.
One of the Topic here is "Salvation".
Speaker: Windel Tolitol
Objectives:
- To help the participants to establish or deepen their relationship with GOD.
- To be joined to Christ more fully be becoming part of a community or a group of Christians with whom they can share their Christian life and from whom they can receive support in that life.
- To begin make use of effective means of growth in their relationship with GOD.

Our Lady of Lourdes Parish Community Polomolok on 20th annual conference
The Our Lady of Lourdes Parish Community was celebrating their 20th Annual Conference of Catholic Charistmatic Movement Polomolok Chapter also known as the CCRM and bringing with the theme: " Year of the Laity: Inspiring, Empowering the Catholic Family in the Community".
The said event was held at the Fr. Crispin Lay Formation Center( Parish Center) headed by the inspired with the Holy Spirit of God, Bro. Alejandro "Ale" Aguspina Jr. Theme may tend to understand the type of the laity we intend to focus on here.
These are all the baptized (except for those in holy orders or in the religious state) who by the sacrament of baptism, are incorporated into the people of God, share in Christ's threefold office as priest, prophet, and king, and have their own part to play in the Church’s mission, especially by directing temporal affairs according to God’s will. They must bring God’s enlightenment and order to society.
Empowerment is very important and since to “to empower something means to understand thoroughly the nature of the thing, its personality, its distinctive trait, its uniqueness;doing otherwise is quite not right or improper.”In this context then, to empower the laity, will be used to mean to know their real status, the expected life-style, and the proper role as lay men in the life of the Church; to accept their uniqueness, their distinctive features; and thereby to form them accordingly.
